Kat Von D | Review

With Kat Von D Beauty launching in Debenhams UK on 5th October 2016 I thought it was finally time to post about the KVD items that my parents picked up for me when they visited Miami earlier this year.

Shade and Light Palette

1 2 3

The Shade and Light Palette is the perfect powder contour set featuring a mix of cool and warm tones. The shade range is wide allowing it to be used over a wide range of skin tones. I actually use the middle contour shade as a bronzer for my pale skin. The shades all have a good level of pigment, but not so much so that it makes them hard to blend, and the buttery formula glides over the skin. While I don’t really use matte highlight powders I have found them useful to lighten up the complexion if I’ve done my base a little too dark. The packaging is chic and slimline allowing it to fit nicely into your makeup bag or kit.

(l-r: Sombre, Shadowplay and Subconscious)

The palette is $46 and available from the KVD website  (I’ll add UK links when they launch)

Shade and Light Eye Palette

1 2 3

The Shade and Light Eye Palette is the perfect companion to work along side the face palette. The palette is all matte and features a range of warm and cool tones from light to dark. This is probably the only all matte neutrals palette that you’ll ever need!

(l-r: Laetus, Lazarus and Ludwin)

5

(l-r: Samael, Solas and Lucuis)

6

(l-r: Saleos, Shax and Liberatus)

7

(l-r: Succubus, Sytry and Latinus)

The shadows all blend like a dream and work well alone or when paired with shimmer shades.

The palette is $46 and available here

Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

1

Now while I am a bit over liquid lipsticks (I find them too dry for everyday wear) the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are a pretty nice texture and not super drying. The only annoying thing I find about them is the packaging. It’s long and thin so the applicator is pretty long which means you don’t get quite as much control as I’d like so I prefer to put them on with a lip brush.

(t-b: Echo and Damned)

3

(Ignore how badly applied it is but here is Echo on the lips)

The Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are $20 and available here

When KVD Beauty launches here what are you most excited to try? I’m looking forward to trying the concealer, especially the white shade!

MAC The Matte Lip: Matte Royal | Review

The only colour from the recent MAC collection The Matte Lip that appealed to me was Matte Royal. As the name suggests, it’s a royal blue colour and while I don’t normally go for dark lips (I prefer bright) I do love how this looks.

1

Despite being a matte lipstick it glides on smoothly and has an intense pigment. I would suggest using a lip liner with it, or a long wear eyeliner, but I don’t have one that matches, so if you have any suggestions then let me know!

Matte Royal is £15.50 for 3g and available from MAC stores, counters and online.

A few weeks ago when at House of GlamDolls I had the pleasure of meeting Omayma Ramzy, a makeup and hair artist who has started to make her own lipsticks. I was looking through her range and she was kind enough to gift me with the shade I liked most!

1
The lipsticks come in a cute little package that includes the lipstick, a tag with the shade name on and a selection of sequins.

32
The shade I got is called Pop! The Cherry and it’s a bright cherry pink that looks more red in the bullet than how it transfers onto the skin.

45
The colour and texture are lovely and it lasts well on the lips. Here’s a shot of me wearing it.

As far as I’m aware the lipsticks aren’t available to buy yet, so be sure to follow her social media to keep up to date.
